Grading Policy
 

Sixth and Seventh Grade:

When there is a performance during the nine weeks (2nd and 4th nine weeks for everyone and 3rd nine weeks for eighth graders), the following categories will be used to determine their grade:

• Tests: There will be written and playing tests throughout the year. Some will be announced. Some will not be announced.

• Performances: Students are required to be present and on time for all concerts. The only excused absences are death in the family or extreme illness.

• Participation and Preparation: Each student must have instruments and the required supplies every day. If the instrument is in the shop, I must have a note from a parent.

• Practice Records: A practice record must be turned in every Monday. Each student is required to practice 100 minutes each week.

When there is not a performance during the nine weeks, the following categories will be used:

• Tests

• Participation and Preparation

• Practice Records

Eighth Grade:

Please note: The absence of Practice Records for the 8th grade is on a trial basis. They will return if found necessary. Eighth Graders should understand the need to practice regularly.

With Performance:

Without Performance:
